HTC desire not getting Android 4.0 upgrade

I was reading through my favourite Tech websites this morning and I stumbled on this update. It really gave me concern and I would like to know your thoughts after reading the short write-up.

It was announced that the HTC Desire HD device will not be getting the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) upgrade.
The upgrade was actually scheduled for some other time but recently, HTC updated a list of devices that will be getting the ICS upgrade but poor HTC Desire HD was ruled out of the list.
Reason being that the device has a poor performance. Here's an official note from HTC regarding the issue.

After extensive testing, we’ve determined that the current version of HTC Sense with Android provides customers with the best experience on the HTC Desire HD.
When we consider new versions of software, we weigh a number of factors, but ultimately the customer experience on the product is the deciding factor.
We apologize for any confusion this change may have caused our customers.
